SCHOOL YEAR PROGRAMS

The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood

ABOUT OUR PROGRAMS

We have a variety of programs during the school year, to continue offering excellent, professional-level training to local young artists with an interest in the performing arts, even when the Barn itself is closed for the off-season. The Barn is your artistic home and a resource for learning about theater throughout the year!

Whether you've been involved in theater for years or are looking to try something new, the Barn's school year programs are the perfect fit for you!

Our programs allow participants to:

  • Hone theatrical skills

  • Work with industry experts who will give direct, personal feedback

  • Explore creativity through acting, singing, dancing, design, and more

  • Meet new young people and grow in confidence together while developing shared passions

This class will teach young artists to use their imagination in the process of making a play. From creating a character, to designing costumes, to developing stories, each week will focus on an element of a theatrical production. Online meetings will involve community building and sharing of ideas, followed by a weekly “at-home” project to give their imaginations time and space to play! This is a wonderful opportunity for young artists to be creative, have fun, and experience the joy of theater.

This class explores the process of devising an original play. Teen artists will work together to create an original piece based on topics and ideas important to them. Weekly exercises in improvisation, playwriting, research, and story development will lead to the creation and performance of a brand-new play! This is a great chance for teen artists to develop their voices, experience the devising process, and use theater to create something personal and unique.

Tuition Assistance is Available!

We at the Barn believe an education in the performing arts should be available and accessible to everyone. We know many people are currently dealing with loss of income and financial instability in light of COVID-19 and the subsequent economic disruptions. So it is with great pride that we offer Tuition Assistance at any level needed.

We know how meaningful theater can be, and we understand the impact of that shared experience. Especially in these difficult times, coming together to sing, act, design, and laugh can be transformative.

Tuition assistance is available thanks to a generous donation from Bar Harbor Bank and Trust with a shared commitment to make theater education accessible to all. If you are in need of tuition assistance, please CLICK HERE to download our 2021 Tuition Assistance Form and email the completed form to education@nlbarn.org before registering for our education programs.
