RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Assist in the setup and supervision of the Barn’s brand-new scene shop.
Contribute to the building, installation, and strike of each set across a busy summer season.
Act as Technical Director for the installation, run, and strike of the final show of the season.
Ensure proper maintenance and usage of all shop equipment and tools.
Supervision of Scenic Interns and Acting Interns working in the Scene Shop.
Attend and participate in production meetings as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
2-3 years shop experience is preferred.
Advanced scenic construction skills are preferred. Basic rigging experience is a plus.
Basic knowledge of AutoCad and Vectorworks is a plus.
Effective problem solving and time management skills with the ability to follow
instructions, complete jobs from start to finish, and work independently with minimal
supervision.
Ability to follow health and safety standards.
Valid driver’s license required.
COSTUME SHOP MANAGER/STITCHER - FULFILLED!

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Set up, organize, and manage all aspects of the Barn’s brand-new costume shop for the
2023 Summer season.
Working with multiple designers, participate in the construction, pulling, fittings, and
strikes for all main stage productions,
Collaborating with the Wardrobe Supervisor and Designer for the transition to tech
rehearsals and performances.
Schedule costume and wig fittings, rehearsal items, and notes with Stage Management
in accordance with Equity rules.
In conjunction with the Production Manager, track and maintain multiple budgets to
ensure that all shows and notes are completed in a timely manner.
Costume Design is a plus. Shop Manager may have design opportunities.
Supervision of Costume Interns and Acting Interns working in the Costume Shop.
Attend and participate in production meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
Proficiency in costume construction and modification techniques.
Excellent managerial skills and leadership qualities while working on multiple shows at once.
Ability to follow health and safety standards.
Must be able to climb stairs, stand, and kneel for extended periods of time, and be able
to lift twenty pounds, while working backstage effectively in a low-light environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
· Work in a team of two to clear out Costume Storage
· Reorganize costume storage and make all sections accessible.
· Create a map and layout that is usable during our summer stock season and easy to maintain long term.
· Lead volunteers in group clean outs (as needed).
QUALIFICATIONS
· 1 – 2 years’ experience in costumes
· Understands different era and periods of design.
· Knowledge of costume conditions, and the ability to determine if a costume should be repaired, thrown away, or kept.
· Valid driver’s license preferred.

Skilled in draping and alterations. Flat patterning experience is a plus.

Comfortable with instructing and supervising interns.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
● In consultation with the PM, TD and Designers, install the rep plot at top of season.
● Lead and participate in all load-ins and strikes to hang, circuit, and focus six mainstage
shows under multiple designers.
● Implement and execute any onstage practicals and atmospheric/special effects.
● Program lighting console (ETC Element) during tech and serve as Board Op for all
performances.
● Upkeep of lighting plots, such as cleaning, repairing, borrowing, renting and return of all
equipment.
● Create and manage all show-related Electrics paperwork.
● Order necessary materials and supplies in a timely manner, while successfully managing
show and department budgets.
● Supervision of Electrics Interns and Acting Interns assisting with the Electrics
department.
● Attend and participate in production meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
● 1-2 years experience as Master Electrician or 2-3 years of Electrics experience is
preferred.
● Knowledge of ETC Element lighting console, Lightwright, and VectorWorks.
● Lighting Design experience is a plus. ME may have design opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
● Lead in the successful pulling, borrowing, renting, construction, installation and strike of
props, furniture, and set dressing elements for all main stage productions.
● Communicate proactively with Scenic Designers, Stage Managers, Directors, and other
department heads to ensure safe and appropriate implementation of all prop elements.
● Coordinate with Stage Management to support prop needs in rehearsal and performances.
● Educate Stage Management and performers in appropriate prop usage.
● Order necessary materials and supplies in a timely manner. Track deliveries and
purchases, submitting all necessary paperwork to the Production Manager within
deadlines and budgets.
● Organize and maintain prop and furniture storage areas.
● Supervision of Props Intern and Acting Interns working in the Props Department.
● Attend and participate in production meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
● 1-2 years experience as Props Designer/Supervisor or equivalent preferred.
● Excellent research skills and a strong knowledge of hand and scenic prop
construction/fabrication techniques, carpentry, upholstery, soft goods and crafts skills.

SCENIC CHARGE ARTIST - FULFILLED!

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
● From the Scenic Designer’s vision, paint all scenic pieces and show decks for the
mainstage season.
● Work collaboratively with TD and Props Designer to complete all work in a timely manner.
● Prepare paint samples/treatments when requested and execute various scenic painting techniques.
● Order necessary materials and supplies in a timely manner. Track deliveries and purchases and submit all necessary paperwork to the Production Manager. Work to ensure shows are completed within deadlines and budgets.
● Supervision of Acting Interns when working with paint.
● Attend and participate in production meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
● Knowledge of basic scenic painting techniques (wood grain, brick, etc.) essential.
● Experience using sprayers and applying texture is a plus.
● Ability to follow health and safety standards.
● Valid driver’s license preferred but not required.
SOUND ENGINEER/DESIGNER- FULFILLED!

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
● Sound design, engineer, and operate sound console for all main stage productions.
● Install equipment/cabling for all shows at top of season, which includes playback, mixers, amps, microphones, video cameras and monitors for conductor stage shots.
● Coordinate and lead all audio installs, changeovers, and strikes.
● Work with Music Directors on sound needs, including rentals, acquisition, pit setup, and maintenance.
● Maintain Clear-Com system and equipment.
● Create and manage all show-related sound paperwork.
● Order necessary materials and supplies in a timely manner, while successfully managing show and department budgets.
● Attend and participate in production meetings.
● Supervision of Sound Intern and Acting Interns working in the Sound Department.
QUALIFICATIONS
● 1-2 years professional sound experience or equivalent of advanced skills at the college
level in sound design, including proficiency with QLab and mixing large musicals.
● Experience with a Midas PRO1-IP mixer is a plus.

WARDROBE SUPERVISOR/STITCHER - FULFILLED!

Reports to: Costume Shop Manager and Stage Management
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
● Serve as head of wardrobe for the season, working with stage management and
costume designers to create wardrobe tracks, preset lists, and dressing lists for actors.
● Manage costume interns during tech and performances, and abide by relevant Actors’
Equity guidelines.
● Assist as a stitcher for daily builds and notes, and work with the Costume department on
all load-ins, changeovers, strikes, and costume restocking.
● Lead the planning and execution of costume/wig quick changes, as well as daily
costume maintenance, and cleaning of costumes and wigs. Provide assistance to actors
with basic hair and makeup needs.
● Attend designer run throughs and production meetings as needed.
● Consult with Costume Shop Manager to maintain wardrobe, laundry, and show supplies,
and maintain cleanliness of wardrobe and dressing room areas.
QUALIFICATIONS
● Some prior experience with wardrobe at the college or early-professional level is
required. Prior experience working with Equity actors/AEA guidelines a plus.
● Strong costume, alteration, and repair skills. Experience with wigs, hair and/or makeup is
a plus.
● Must be able to climb stairs, stand/kneel for extended periods of time, and work
effectively in a low-light environment.

Box Office/House Manager - FULFILLED!
The New London Barn Playhouse seeks a full-time Box Office/House Manager for the 2024 Summer Season. The Barn Playhouse is celebrating 92 seasons of summer theater in a historic- landmarked, 200-year old converted barn.
The Box Office & House Manager reports to the Director of Sales and Marketing and Managing Director. Manager is responsible for all day-to-day box office and front of house duties which may include, but are not limited to:
● Supervising, training, and mentoring a team of 2-4 Box Office Interns
● Managing ticket sales online, over the phone and in person
● Staffing and scheduling box office and house management assignments
● Acting as a public face of the organization: greeting guests, answering general questions about the theater and the area, connecting patrons with non-ticket-related questions to the appropriate staff member.
● Maintaining inventory and selling Barn merchandise and concessions
● Maintaining and improving Ovation database integrity
● Serving as House Manager for public performances
● Collaborating with Production team for the upkeep of the Barn's historic theater
● Monitoring and ensuring patron safety and relations before, during and after performances
● Working with the Development and Marketing departments
● Managing guest relations
● Ensuring programs are prepped each night with inserts
Pre-Show
● Communicate with the Stage Management team to ensure any audience notices (use of fog, strobe lights, gun shots, etc.) are created, as well as performance length, late seating needs, and other pertinent details.
● Verify with Usher Coordinator and Box Office that we are fully staffed for performance.
● Turn on/off exhaust fan and A/C as needed
● Verify House Count with Box Office
● Make sure there's an accurate count of Playbills in the theater.
● Make sure all doors are unlocked, including the bathrooms.
● Gaff the House Right door, so it stays open.
● Check the rocks by the House Right door.
● Ensure the theater and Porch are clean and safe for patrons
● Make sure concessions is stocked and merchandise is available
● Prepare cashboxes for concessions/merchandise and pillows
● Assist Usher Coordinator with pre-show Pep Talk with Ushers, going over show times, late seating, any special notices, Usher positions, and any other pertinent information
Opening the House
● Coordinating with Stage Management team to make sure they're ready to open the house at half- hour.
● Supervise any pre-show concessions and pillow sales
● Taking tickets and assisting patrons to their seats.
● In the event of a ticketing dispute, assessing the situation and either resolving it or bringing it to the Box Office Manager.
During Performance
● Ensure a safe and pleasant experience in the theater for all patrons, checking for use of phones or distracting devices, aisles are clear, etc.
Intermission
● Supervise concessions/merchandise sales.
● Assist patrons with any questions or concerns
● Check the House Right door, that it's still gaffed and unlocked.
● Check that there are no Patrons in the bathrooms.
● Notify Stage Management when all patrons are returned to the theater and the second act can begin.
Post-Show
● Ensure patrons exit the theater in a safe and orderly manner.
● Supervise the cleaning of the theater with the Ushers.
● Make sure the A/Cs are all off.
● Turn on the Exhaust Fan.
● Double check that the bathrooms are locked.
● Lock the theater.
● Generate concessions and merchandise reports reconcile cashboxes
● Check bathrooms and lock them up.
● Generate a detailed House Manager's Report and send to theater and production staff, detailing house count, accurate performance and intermission start/end times, and any pertinent information.
In the Event of Emergency the House Manager serves as the main contact point between Stage Management, Barn Staff, and any required outside services (fire, police, hospital, etc.). Should outside services need to be called, House Manager will make the call and coordinate efforts. In such instances, House Manager will make sure the needed information is collected from all parties, and will include information in the House Manager's Report as well as any additional documentation as required by the theater.The successful applicant will be highly responsible, friendly and outgoing, detail- oriented, computer- proficient, and able to handle a high volume of sales with efficiency and unfailing courtesy. Previous sales experience preferred but not required. Ideal candidate will have prior box office experience, experience with Ovation or similar ticketing systems, excellent personal skills, and willingness to jump in and get the job done. Travel, housing and all meals included. Position requires evening and weekend hours. Position to start part-time March 1, transitioning to full-time in May; end date ideally September 3, but negotiable for those returning to classes in the fall.

Entry level Company Manager position (also will work collaboratively with and manage the Company Management Intern)
● Assist Managing Director with pre-season work as needed (mostly preparing house for staff arrivals and updating/familiarizing yourself with travel calendar)
● Basic knowledge of the housing matrix and how to adjust and add to it throughout the season (this is the housing document that shows where each person on-site is living)
● Basic knowledge of housing rentals for company housing
● Stock the rented properties with kitchen supplies and bedding and confirming internet connectivity and manage professional cleaning staff
● Changeover rooms between guest artists and employees (wash linens, vacuum and dust, clean bathrooms and make sure stocked with toilet paper and paper towels)
● Train and work with Company Management Intern and manage throughout the season
● Monitor housing and cleaning supplies
● Monitor and inventory office supplies and medical supplies
● Liaison between Company and Kitchen (Head Chef and Kitchen Staff) about any food allergies and Barnies on-site number
● Pickup and drop-off service for guest artists and employees including airport runs (BOS and MHT), Dartmouth Coach in New London and Lebanon, and Amtrak White River Junction
● Showing new employees their allotted housing and familiarizing them with the property and the area
● Provide basic knowledge about company business when new employees arrive on-sight (company car rules, parking rules, doctor visits, town suggestions…)

The historic New London Barn Playhouse is accepting applications for the 2024 Patron Services/Marketing Associate. Our associate program is an excellent opportunity for emerging arts professionals to gain practical, hands on experience in a professional theater setting*. Through close mentoring with our staff, associates will collaborate on a diverse array of projects, and our goal is to provide interns with the tools & resources to grow into competitive professionals in the field.
Associate duties to include:
● Assist the Front House/Box Office Manager with day to day operations
● Assist with pre-show duties at the Box office and in the theater
● Assist with helping ushers in pre-show and showtime duties
● Help coordinate the seating plan for each show with the Box Office Manager
● Box Office duties and shifts, including answering the phone, emails, selling walk up tickets.
● General administrative & office duties
● Coordinating and drafting content for weekly E-Blasts
● Creating photo and video content for all productions during the season
● Updating the Barn Playhouse website (Squarespace)
● Supervising implementation of Barn’s pre-existing print advertising schedule

The position calls for an individual who is highly responsible, detail-oriented, and possesses great customer service skills. The right candidate should have a strong interest in the inner-workings of a theater box office and management position.

Company Management Associate - FULFILLED!

Entry level Associate Company Manager position
● Assist Company Manager and Managing Director with pre-season work as needed (mostly preparing house for staff arrivals)
● Basic knowledge of the housing matrix
● Basic knowledge of Colby Sawyer or other rental agencies for company housing
● Stock the rented properties with kitchen supplies and bedding and confirming internet connectivity
● Changeover rooms between guest artists and employees (wash linens, vacuum and dust, clean bathrooms and make sure stocked with toilet paper and paper towels)
● Train and work with Company Management Intern
● Monitor housing supplies and cleaning needs
● Monitor office supplies and medical supplies
● Liaison between Company and Kitchen about any food allergies
● Pickup and drop-off service for guest artists and employees including airport runs (BOS and MHT), Dartmouth Coach in New London and Lebanon, and Amtrak White River Junction
● Showing new employees their allotted housing and familiarizing them with the property and the area
● Provide basic knowledge about company business when new employees arrive on-sight (company car rules, parking rules, doctor visits, town suggestions…)

The New London Barn Playhouse seeks a full-time Head Chef for the 2024 Summer
Season. The Barn is celebrating 92 seasons of summer theater in a historic- landmarked,
200-year old converted barn. If you are passionate about cooking and have previous
kitchen experience, then you may be the perfect candidate! The Head Chef reports
to the Managing Director and will work closely with the Company Management team.
The New London Barn Playhouse is seeking a hard-working, self-motivated Head Chef to join our team. Our theater operates from late May through early September (basically Memorial Day-Labor Day). The Head Chef will manage the kitchen, develop menus and create healthy, substantial meals to fuel our hard working staff. The ideal candidate for this position is creative, enthusiastic and passionate about food. This position will supervise approximately three to four additional seasonal kitchen staff- it is very hands on cooking.
Those with previous experience are encouraged to apply. The New London Barn Playhouse is located in New London, New Hampshire in the greater Lake Sunapee area. Competitive compensation is based on experience and includes roundtrip travel, room and board included, and discounted tickets to theater performances over the season.
Desired Qualifications:
Previous camp chef/kitchen experience
Experience in a institutional food-service setting
Serve as supervisor of food service staff and making scheduling assignments
Create healthy menus (lunch and dinner daily, number of meals varies throughout the season- numbers can vary from 50-100 people to feed…this number will always be confirmed the week prior by Company Management.
Coordinate with food vendors (US Foods, Spring Ledge Farms, Black River Produce) and ordering quality food
Manage budget for season long kitchen/food expenses
Train staff in proper food service policies and procedures
Prepare a variety of food for different diets (GF, vegetarian, plant based…)
Accept guidance and supervision
Good character, integrity, and adaptability
Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control
Desire and ability to work in a fast moving setting
